Christmas Cookies

This sugar cookie recipe is perfect for decorating for Christmas, or just plain dipped in sugar. I use a cheesecloth to put the dough on, and a rolling pin. I also use wooden dowels with the dough in between them to get a consistent thickness for the cutting. If making just sugar cookies, then roll them into balls and flatten with a bottom of a glass.

2 C sugar

1 C butter

2 eggs

3 1/2 C flour

1 tsp soda

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Blend butter and sugar, then eggs. Add soda, b powder, salt and vanilla and blend well. Blend flour.

Roll and cut cookies  as desired. Bake 8-10 minutes at 350°.

My frosting is simple. All you need is powder sugar and milk, vanilla extract, almond extract, melted butter, food coloring.

I use a Pyrex 2 cup measuring cup and fill it with powdered sugar, then a little milk. I use a butter knife to stir the mix. I use a little melted butter also as it will set the frosting harder, if  necessary.

I mix until the frosting does not longer run off the knife.

You can use sprinkles too. I pour them on a plate and press the frosted cookie into it.
